Coordination of flows in the Mekong: Improving regional and national communication and information sharing
The Lao National Mekong Committee Secretariat (LNMCS) engaged Alluvium through the Australian Mekong Water Facility to develop a Guideline for the Coordination of Flows, balancing water use across hydropower, communities, and the environment.

The Lao National Mekong Committee Secretariat (LNMCS) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) recognised the need to better manage or “coordinate” flows to balance the risks and benefits of water use across hydropower operations, the environment, and communities. Alluvium was engaged through the Australian Mekong Water Facility to provide technical and institutional governance advice to:
1. Holistically and inclusively manage river basin water resources.
2. Respond to the challenges posed by climate change.
3. Improve information sharing among water operators, stakeholders and riparian communities.
