Environmental strategy

We work with communities and government to develop strategies and plans that support environmental management. We are leaders in environmental water, including determining flow requirements, planning for flow deliveries and undertaking risk assessments to guide management and policy decisions.

  • Environmental water

We work on environmental water science, analysis, planning, operations and delivery to address issues of water stressed systems in a changing climate, integrating the diverse skillsets across the Alluvium Group. Combining expertise in ecology, hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, objective setting and adaptive management, we work with government and communities to determine environmental water requirements in a robust way. We support the implementation of environmental flows through long-term and operational plans. We bring understanding of river operations, flow planning, ordering, works and delivery, government agency and interjurisdictional roles and processes, together with engagement skills and listening to community, First Nations and landholder needs.

  • Plans and strategies

We are experienced in delivering high-level strategies through to detailed plans and business cases, supporting investments, policies programs, projects and infrastructure. Inclusive engagement is central to our strategy development. It ensures meaningful participation in decision-making so that everyone understands how the plan or strategy has evolved and how the actions align effort towards the overarching goals. We see through our evaluation and audit work what works and how to set programs up for success from the start.

  • First Nations collaboration

We work respectfully with First Nations peoples through inclusive decision-making and participation to support cultural outcomes in land and water. We understand and implement the principles of Self-determination and Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) through all project stages. We understand the importance of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and the rights of First Nations people to their tangible and intangible cultural heritage and knowledge. We work to build long-term relationships, and to always provide a culturally safe space, respect cultural protocols, allow diverse voices to be heard, and be open and realistic about boundaries and constraints.

  • Engagement

We are a respected leading practitioner in engagement and participation. We engage and collaborate with First Nations peoples, communities, landholders, councils, government agencies and cross-jurisdictional governance. We design and facilitate structured collaborative workshops and thoughtfully apply our experience through a range of methods to achieve agreed objectives. We work with multiple stakeholders, and are comfortable navigating uncertainty to support inclusive decision-making.
