Alleviating Waterlogging problem in critical areas of Dimapur
Flooding has been a common occurrence in the Dimapur airport (Nagaland) area and its vicinity with the onset of the monsoon season, submerging roads, residential buildings, and drainages underwater. With the Government of India's growing focus on enhancing connectivity in the Northeastern Region, the Dimapur airport is expected to grow at a rapid pace. Therefore, considering the airport's future growth potential, it is advisable to redesign the drainage system to safely dispose of floodwater without affecting airport services. The state of Nagaland, through its Department of Water Resources, is the implementing agency under the National Hydrology Project (NHP).
Our work included identifying the problem by understanding the site characteristics, assessing the problem and generating proposals, testing and optimizing the suggested solutions, and providing detailed design proposals with budget estimation and recommendations.
