Victorian Coastal and Marine Management Plans (CMMP)

Alluvium has been assisting several Victorian councils to develop Coastal and Marine Management Plans (CMMPs) to guide appropriate and effective management of marine and coastal areas.

Alluvium has been assisting several Victorian councils to develop Coastal and Marine Management Plans (CMMPs) to guide appropriate and effective management of marine and coastal areas. This includes:

  • Assisted Hobsons Bay City Council and Kingston City Council to deliver and receive Ministerial sign off on Council-wide CMMPs for their regions.
  • Worked with Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to deliver three CMMPs for the communities of Mount Eliza, Portsea and Flinders, which have now received Ministerial sign off.
  • Progressed development of East Gippsland Shire Council’s CMMP.

Our approach to delivering CMMPs aligns strongly with Statewide policy and translates this policy into on-ground actions. This includes actions at both Council-wide and precinct or location-specific scales. Informed by community and stakeholder engagement throughout, our CMMPs identify initiatives which balance management of social, cultural, environmental, and economic values sustainably. Our CMMPs guide both the long-term strategic direction of coastal and marine management in each of these LGAs as well as providing a detailed action and implementation plan to be delivered over the next 5-10 years.
