Queensland Shoreline Erosion Management Plans
Alluvium delivers Shoreline Erosion Management Plans (SEMPs) that combine robust technical assessments with community and Traditional Owner engagement to guide long-term, strategic coastal erosion management, with recent plans completed for councils across Queensland.

A Shoreline Erosion Management Plan (SEMP) is a non-statutory planning document that provides a framework for understanding and managing erosion while respecting natural coastal processes, Traditional Owner knowledge, and community values. It informs strategic planning over a 20-year horizon, ensuring efficient use of resources for coastal managers and alignment with regional priorities.
Alluvium has extensive experience in all aspects of the SEMP process. We pursue a leading practice approach to the delivery of technical coastal assessments and engagement work, developed in consultation with the Department of Environment and Science (DES) and other agencies to achieve prompt endorsement and limited need for rework. We provide value for money in that we can offer a more robust technical product than the typical scope of a SEMP.
We actively consult with State Government throughout the SEMP process to ensure smooth delivery and sign off. We have recently completed a number of SEMPs for Queensland councils including Moreton Island (Brisbane City Council), Bargara (Bundaberg Regional Council), Boyne Island and Tannum Sands (Gladstone Regional Council), as well as numerous sites across the Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council (NPARC).
