Lake Eyre Basin Intergovernmental Agreement Review
Alluvium developed the Lake Eyre Basin Strategic Plan, balancing environmental, social, cultural, and economic goals, and recommending governance reforms following extensive stakeholder consultation.

The Lake Eyre Basin (Kati Thanda) Strategic Plan was developed to guide the management and protection of the Basin, a significant environmental and cultural area. Alluvium Consulting, in collaboration with Natural Capital & Climate, was engaged to prepare a draft Strategic Plan for the Basin. The project included extensive research and consultation with various stakeholders, including state and territory government officials, scientific and community advisory committees, and key Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal groups.
The objective was to create a ‘quadruple bottom-line’ plan that balances environmental, social, cultural, and economic factors. After the draft plan was released for public consultation, feedback was incorporated, and the final Strategic Plan was adopted by the Basin governments. Additionally, the project involved a review of the Basin’s governance structure, leading to recommendations for governance reforms to improve effectiveness and stakeholder engagement in decision-making processes.
