Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) – Nature-based Solutions for Urban Adaptation
Nature-based Solutions for Urban Adaptation (NATURA) project aims to enhance urban flood resilience in Vientiane by restoring Nong Loup Ian wetland and the Nam Ping River using nature-based solutions (NbS).
Extreme rainfall events and rapid urbanisation have increased flood risks, disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities. By integrating NbS, NATURA seeks to mitigate pluvial flooding, improve groundwater recharge, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen community resilience.
