Climate Change and Water Short Courses
Alluvium designed and delivered climate and water resilience training across the Indo-Pacific, building regional capacity in climate adaptation, water management, and GEDSI-sensitive approaches.

Across the Indo-Pacific, countries are facing escalating climate change impacts on water resources, communities, and ecosystems. In response, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), through its Climate Change Action Strategy, is investing in capacity building to support regional resilience and adaptation. As part of this, the Australian Water Partnership (AWP) commissioned the delivery of Climate Change and Water Short Courses, designed to address pressing regional challenges and support Australia’s international development commitments under the Paris Agreement.
Alluvium designed and delivered four virtual Australia Awards Short Courses for participants across Pacific Island Countries, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The courses-built knowledge in managing water and climate risks, water security, and gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) principles. Participants were introduced to cutting-edge topics including climate science, nature-based solutions, climate finance, WASH, water resource management, and GEDSI-sensitive planning tools. Through expert facilitation and networking, the courses fostered a growing community of practice for climate and water resilience across the region.
